Plenty of companies sell adventures. Fewer of them run their own.

We’re a small expedition company based in County Durham, and the person leading your trip works for us. Joe Alexander leads many of them himself. Nepal has been part of Joe’s life for longer than the company has existed, and the guides, porters and drivers he works with there are more than just colleagues.

Joe has travelled more than 70% of the world, which matters less as a number than as a network. He knows where to go, what’s actually worth your time once you’re there, and who to ring.

That difference isn’t a small one. It means the route has been walked before you walk it. It means that when the weather turns or the road closes, the person making the call has made it on that ground before. It means the teahouse, the boatman and the driver are people we’ve gone back to for years, not names on a booking system. And it means the trip you were sold is the trip you get, because the person who planned it is the one standing next to you.

The rest follows from that. Groups stay small, usually eight to twelve. Every adventure is graded honestly, so you can tell before you book whether it’s the right one for you. And the planning is done properly in the background, which is what lets the trip itself feel easy.

We’ll take you to Everest Base Camp and Kanchenjunga, Mount Ararat, Patagonia, Mongolia, Madagascar, the Faroes and the Silk Road through Uzbekistan and, closer to home, out onto the rivers and hills of the North East. We build private trips for families and friends, and days out for schools, companies and charity challenges.

Plenty of our guests book on their own. Nobody stays a stranger past the first evening.
