Matt brings over 20 years of experience in outdoor learning, adventure and expedition leadership, having worked across Wales, Dorset and Yorkshire and led people in a wide variety of environments throughout the UK and Europe.
Over the years, Matt has introduced countless people to the outdoors, from those experiencing adventure for the first time through to participants heading out on multi-day journeys and expeditions. His experience spans canoeing, sea kayaking, paddleboarding, mountain environments, climbing, caving and cycling, giving him a broad understanding of what makes a safe, enjoyable and memorable adventure.
His own journeys have taken him travelling by canoe through northern Sweden, guiding rivers in southern France and across the UK, and cycling the length of Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats. He has also supported and led overseas trips with young people, using adventure as a way to build confidence, develop skills and introduce them to new environments and cultures.
Matt has a particular love for Scotland’s west coast and the Outer Hebrides. The combination of remote coastlines, islands, wildlife, geology and constantly changing landscapes makes it one of his favourite places to explore.
For Matt, leading an adventure is about much more than simply getting from one place to another. He enjoys sharing his knowledge, helping people understand the environment around them and giving guests the confidence to experience places they may never have thought they could explore.
He is also passionate about encouraging people to appreciate and respect the landscapes they travel through, ensuring that the incredible wild places we enjoy today can continue to be experienced by generations to come.
