Corporate adventures
Improve communication, morale and wellbeing across your business.
A day outdoors does what a meeting room cannot
Teams work differently than they used to. Some are spread between offices and home desks. Some have grown quickly enough that some people in the organisation haven't even met yet. Others simply haven't had a proper day out together in years.
Whatever shape yours is in, there are things a day outdoors will do for it that a meeting room never will. Alexander Adventures builds corporate days around real adventure.
A four-hour paddleboarding session on flat water, a kayak descent of the Wear from Fatfield to Roker, or, for teams with something bigger in mind, a mountaineering expedition in the Himalaya.
At any scale, the day is built around your people and what you want it to do for them.
We've been running these for more than fifteen years, for teams and organisations across the UK and well beyond it. What keeps people coming back is that it never feels like a training exercise. It feels like a good day out, and the effects show up afterwards, in how people talk to each other on Monday morning.

Why teams come to us
A day on the River Wear
The Wear is on our doorstep, and it's the best introduction to what we do. The stretch from Fatfield down to Roker runs through quiet, wooded water before it opens out to the sea. An hour in, most people have forgotten they were nervous about it.
What happens on the water is the point. A boat needs the people in it to agree on a direction. Someone has to speak up; someone else has to listen. Teams that have spent months in careful email exchanges tend to sort that out in twenty minutes on a river, mostly by laughing at each other.
Our guides keep the day safe and keep it moving, and quietly encourage people towards the thing they weren't sure about. Nobody is put on the spot and nobody is left behind. Mixed fitness and mixed confidence is the normal shape of a corporate group, and we plan the day around it.
We see otters and kingfishers on most trips, which tends to surprise people about their own city.
What a day outdoors does for a team
Our corporate adventures are designed with employee wellbeing as the starting point.
Mental wellbeing
Time outdoors and time moving both do measurable good. Think lower stress, less anxiety, better mood. Boosting company morale.
Team bonding
Shared effort builds trust faster than any workshop. People learn what their colleagues are good at, where they need a hand, and how they behave when something is slightly harder than expected.
Communication
In the outdoors, unclear instructions have immediate and usually comic consequences. People learn to be direct, to listen properly and to check they've been understood, habits that can come straight back to the office with them.
Recovery
Fresh air, physical effort and no notifications. Teams return sharper and steadier, and the day gives them a shared reference point long after the kit is dry.
Corporate social responsibility
A day with us can also do something for your CSR commitments, not as a box-tick, but because we work in these places and depend on them staying intact.
Environmental stewardship
We operate to leave-no-trace standards and brief every group on them. Teams come away better informed about the river or the mountain they've just spent a day on.
Conservation of biodiversity
The wildlife on the Wear: otters, kingfishers, herons, is a good measure of the river's health, and a good reminder of why it's worth protecting. We support local conservation work and are glad to build it into your day.
Sustainable tourism
We keep group sizes small, use local operators and access points responsibly, and would rather turn down a booking than put pressure on a fragile site.
Supporting local communities
We employ and buy locally, on the Wear and on expedition. Your budget stays in the communities that host you.
What teams say about a day with us
What an excellent day of paddling we had!
The session ran smoothly from start to finish. The equipment provided was top quality and the whole staff team were first-class hosts.
The whole experience was great fun, and the BBQ on the beach at the end was fantastic!
I have no hesitation recommending Alexander Adventures.
A massive thanks to Joe and Dave from Alexander Adventures!
I’ve been on a few kayaking days and have fully enjoyed all of them. The whole staff team is very professional and make sure they keep everyone safe while having an excellent experience.
I will definitely be booking onto more adventures in the future, I don’t want to miss out on Dave’s incredible BBQ!
I would highly recommend Joe and his team to anyone wanting to do a unique adventure for their colleagues.
We had an absolute BLAST kayaking down the River Wear on a sunny afternoon (and I do have to mention, a personal highlight was discovering my ten-year-old drysuit still fits like a glove, that was a pleasant surprise!)
Joe’s crew combines professional skills with a relaxed attitude. You feel safe and looked after, but there’s plenty of good vibes and laughter too.
I loved the freedom the most, even in the midst of a group activity, they let me do my own thing. It was the unique blend of adventure and chill. And, let’s not forget Dave’s beachside feast! That man knows how to satisfy hungry paddlers. Spot-on, Dave!
So, if you’re looking for an adventure that’s a blend of personal freedom, fun and camaraderie, look no further than Alexander Adventures. This was my first trip with them, but I’m eager for the next one.
A massive thanks to Joe and the team for their amazing mixed watersports event!
Despite not canoeing for many years, I was keen to give it a try along with the paddle boarding. I have to admit I struggled a bit going upriver against the tide, but Dave was never far away to help and reassure me!
I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon out and I have already booked on for another experience next month. The staff team were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the tea and muffins afterward weren’t bad either!
I would have no hesitation recommending Alexander Adventures to friends, family or business contacts for any outdoor activities.
Case studies
We are asking the clients we have worked with for permission before publishing the detail of their trips. Ask us and we will talk you through comparable work: the objective, what we ran, how many people and what came out of it.
Get in touch
Tell us what you want the day to do: a new team finding its feet, a department that's grown faster than it can know itself, or a wellbeing budget you'd rather not spend on another fruit bowl. We'll build it around that.
