Ullswater is a jewel of the Lake District — quieter and wilder than Windermere, yet every bit as beautiful. Framed by dramatic fells, this long, winding lake is perfect for a mini-expedition, with paddles past Aira Force waterfall, hidden bays to explore, and shoreline campsites to enjoy. Wildlife is part of the magic here too: red squirrels leaping through the trees, buzzards circling overhead, and deer grazing at dusk. On the first evening, we head out for a twilight paddle, watching the sun sink behind the peaks as the lake glows gold. Best of all, this is our luxury canoe adventure, with a cosy base camp complete with a wood-burning sauna for post-paddle relaxation.
