Situated within the Annapurna region, the Mardi Himal trek stands as an undiscovered treasure in Nepal, offering captivating views of iconic peaks like Mardi Himal, Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna range, and Manaslu. Nestled amidst the splendor of the Annapurna mountains, this trek presents an opportunity to relish the Himalayan charm in a condensed period. Spanning just 4 nights and 5 days, the Mardi Himal trek provides a comprehensive experience, making it an ideal alternative for individuals restricted by time constraints but aspiring to explore the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
Embarking from Pokhara, known as the ‘city of Lakes,’ the Mardi Himal Trek itinerary unfolds a scenic journey commencing from Dhampus, a renowned stopover featuring panoramic vistas and cultural richness. The trail advances towards the high camp, meandering through enchanting Gurung villages, lush rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, meandering rivers, terraced fields, and other captivating landscapes.
Reaching the trek’s pinnacle at 4,500 meters, trekkers are greeted sweeping views of Annapurna, Dhauliri, Macchapuchre, and Manaslu peaks from the viewpoint/base camp. Encircled by flourishing rhododendron blooms, vantage point offers a mesmerizing panorama of the Annapurna region, ensuring a gratifying and immersive experience for every trekker.
Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu
One of the Alexander Adventures team will meet you in the arrivals hall and take you by private transportation to our own spa hotel in the city where you can relax, that evening one of the team will meet you as the sunset over Kathmandu and chat over the next few days. You will stay in a luxury room.
Day 02 : Mountain flight over the Himalayas
Up early to catch the morning flight to the adventure capital of nepal. Tonight we will head out for a few drinks and prep for trekking. Night at our luxury hotel in the city.
Day 03 : Drive to Kande (1,770 m) and trek to Deurali (2,125m)
Travel Plan:
– Driving Duration: 1 hour
– Walking Duration: 3-4 hours
On the initial day of the journey, you will depart from Pokhara to Kande following breakfast around 7 am. The drive from Pokhara to Kande, spanning approximately 40 minutes, traverses the Pokhara-Baglung highway. Upon reaching Kande, the trekking expedition towards Deurali commences. The first checkpoint along the Kande-Deurali route is Australian Camp, reached after a 1-2 hour hike, offering picturesque vistas of the neighboring hills and the Himalayas, particularly the renowned Annapurna ranges. Following a lunch break, the trek advances towards Deurali, passing through the ethnic village of Pothana. Upon reaching Pitam Deurali, a breathtaking panorama of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Himchuli, and Macchapuchre mountains awaits, providing a captivating welcome for trekkers.
Day 04: Trek to Low Camp (3,150 m)
Walking Duration: 5-6 hours
On the second day of the Mardi Himal journey, you will progress northward from Deurali, entering a densely forested area adorned with rhododendron flowers and diverse wild flora. Upon entering this verdant expanse, the temperature notably decreases, enveloping you in a revitalizing natural aroma. After traversing the untamed wilderness for 5-6 hours, you will reach the tranquil surroundings of Low Camp.
Given your overnight stay at Low Camp, take a moment to immerse yourself in the peaceful ambiance while relishing the close-up views of the majestic Macchapuchre peak.
Day 05: Trek to High Camp (3,700 m)
Walking duration: 3-4 hours
On the third day of the expedition, your path will lead you through a captivating landscape of rhododendron and oak forests for approximately 1-2 hours until you reach Middle Camp. Pressing onwards, you will bid adieu to Badal Danda and proceed along the Mardi Himal ridge for an additional 2-3 hours. As you soak in the picturesque vistas and maintain a steady pace over hours, you will eventually reach High Camp. This elevated campsite affords breathtaking views of the snow-clad summits, including Himchuli (6,441m), Annapurna (7,219m), and Macchapuchre (6,993m).
Day 06: Trek to Mardi Base Camp (4,500 m) and trek down to Siding (1,800 m)
Walking Duration: 8-9 hours
On the highly anticipated day of the 5-day trek, you will embark on a thrilling adventure as you make your way to the Mardi Base Camp, the final leg of this journey. Commencing early in the morning, you will begin the ascent along a rugged trail, a challenging trek lasting approximately 5 hours until you reach the base camp.
Expect to be awe-inspired by the breathtaking views awaiting you at the Mardi Base Camp showcasing the splendor of Mardi alongside the magnificent peaks of Anurna, Macchapuchre, and Himchuli in all their grandeur.
After capturing numerous unforgettable moments through your camera lens and relishing the serene atmosphere at the camp, you will descend towards Siding. The descent is relatively gentle, following the familiar path back to Low Camp before branching off towards Siding. Nestled amidst scenic surroundings, the charming village of Siding offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry and lifestyles of the local inhabitants.
Day 07: Trek to Lumre from Siding (1,800 m) and drive back to Pokhara (1,400 m) by private jeep.
Walking duration: 3 hours
Driving duration: 2 hours
As you embark on the final day of your trek, take a moment to savor the last breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas before descending to Lumre. From Lumre, you will board a local or private jeep for a scenic 2-hour drive to Pokhara, marking the conclusion of your memorable journey.
Day 08 – Rest day relaxation by the lake overlooking the Annapurna range
After your long trek it’s time to take in the sun and relax with the rich culture and food of this amazing place. Chill out in our fantastic hotel.
Day 09- 11 :White water rafting “The Mighty Kali”
Named after “Kali” the goddess of destruction, the Kaligandaki is said to be one of Nepal’s most holy rivers. Originating high on the Tibetan Plateau the “Mighty Kali” plunges down through the Himalayas, carving out one of the deepest gorges in the world between Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna Mountains.
With exciting white water rapids, spectacular mountain views, traditional villages, endless suspension bridges, waterfalls, pristine jungle rich in wildlife, deep gorges, cultural temples and beautiful white sandy beaches for camp, we consider this to be the best all round river adventure in Nepal.
2 nights riverside beach camping.
Day 11 we will head back in to town for a few drinks and some amazing local food.
Day 12 : mountain flight to Kathmandu.
Heading off after breakfast to catch the flight over the Himalayas back to Kathmandu where our private transport will take the team back to our luxury hotel.
Day 13: Take in the culture of the city
After breakfast the team will head out with one of our very knowledgeable city guests to find out everything about this amazing city. This evening we will eat in one of Kathmandu’s best restaurants
Day 14: Heading home
We will get you to the airport in plenty of time to catch your flight home.
