Loch Awe is one of Scotland’s most atmospheric waters — 25 miles long and framed by mountains, forests, and castle ruins. Remote yet welcoming, it’s dotted with hidden bays and wooded islands waiting to be explored. Days are spent gliding across open water as ospreys hunt overhead, red deer graze the ridges, and otters play along the shore. We’ll paddle past the iconic Kilchurn Castle, its ruins perfectly mirrored in the loch, before camping on wild islands. Evenings are all about fireside cooking, sharing stories, and watching the stars reflect in the still waters. As Joe says: “Loch Awe is short but wild.
